15 Tips to Help You Stop Smoking Today

1.  Determination.  Desire.  You must absolutely positively demand of yourself the will to stop smoking today must come from within, not from anyone elseStop Smoking Today sign

2.  Make a plan. Write down your goals on a piece of paper.  Announce it to the world.  Start a blog.  Write down what you are going to do and how you are going to stop smoking today.

7.  Start exercising.  It can help you feel good about yourself and help you get rid of the stress you previously used smoking to ease.

8.  Practice some deep breathing every day for 5-10 minutes.  Learn meditation techniques that can help you resist urges and helps you to stop smoking today.

9.  Visualize, ahead of time, what you will do when offered a cigarette.  Prepare yourself mentally for temptation.

10.  If you are having trouble and sneaking a smoke now and then, consider some treatments/therapy like nicotine gum, etc.

11.  Make a plan for what you will do when you sneak a smoke. Completely fall back in to the habit?  Or just keep right on going, anew?  You know the best answer.

12.  Find a friend or acquaintance who will go on this journey with you, and stop smoking today together.  Meet together regularly to discuss your struggles and encourage each other.

13.  Celebrate milestones in your stop smoking journey.  After two weeks see a movie as a reward, and after a month take the family out to dinner. After one year of not smoking think of having a big party or a big family vacation.  Make each milestone special for you, something that you will look forward to, to help you along the way.

14.  Drink more water than usual.  Drinking of more water will help flush out nicotine and other bad chemicals out of your body, and help speed you on your way to stop smoking alltogether.

15.  Avoid situations that previously led you to smoke, and if you cannot do this for every situation, have a plan for what you will do in situations when you had previously smoked.  For instance, chewing gum, etc.
